  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can refried beans
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese
  • Sour cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add warm water gradually and knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them into discs.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry each disc until golden brown on both sides, then drain on paper towels.
  6. In a skillet, cook the ground meat until browned, then add taco seasoning and water as per package instructions.
  7. Warm the refried beans in a separate pot.
  8. Assemble the tacos by placing refried beans on the fry bread, followed by the seasoned meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream if desired.
