Cauliflower and pea masala

A flavorful and nutritious dish made with cauliflower and peas, cooked in a spicy masala sauce.

  • 1 medium cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  4. Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
  5. Mix in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  6. Add cauliflower florets and peas, stirring well to coat with the masala.
  7. Add a little water, cover, and cook until the vegetables are tender.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

  • This dish pairs well with rice or flatbreads.
  • For a creamier texture, add a splash of coconut milk.
