Baked Ziti with Ricotta and Spinach is a comforting and delicious pasta dish that combines creamy ricotta cheese, fresh spinach, and ziti pasta, all baked to perfection with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.

  • 12 oz ziti pasta
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, chopped spinach, egg, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the cooked ziti pasta to the ricotta mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Layer half of the ziti mixture on top of the sauce, then sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining marinara sauce, ziti mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
  8. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
  • Feel free to substitute the spinach with other vegetables like mushrooms or zucchini.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
